While electronic fuel injection is a vast improvement over prior fuel delivery systems, the ease which it took to clean your fuel delivery system, like rebuilding and cleaning carburetor, is all but gone… or is it?
In Ratchets and Wrenches’ YouTube video we are brought a unique approach to cleaning a set of injectors, that is sure to save you some hard earned dollars. This approach doesn’t require any elaborate equipment or volatile solvents, by utilizing some simple components that you can acquire at your local auto parts store.
While a fuel system cleaner/additive is an approach that has the possibility of loosening a majority of the sediment that causes the injector to fire improperly, there is the possibility that it will not completely dissolve the blockages. On the other side of the injector cleaning spectrum, you have the high dollar cleaners that may not guarantee that your injectors will return to normal operation, and are costly to purchase.

Ensuring that you are applying the proper voltage to the injector during this cleaning should be a priority, as to not damage or over heat the injectors solenoid.
Clearing up the blockages that are present in an EFI system will eliminate engine misfire, stumbling, and hesitation, as a result of a poor air/fuel mixture. These kinds of blockages can also lead to a lack of performance and increased fuel consumption.
By following the steps outlined in this video, and ensuring your injector is not receiving more than the required voltage during this cleaning, you can return your EFI system back to proper operation without the costly addition of new injectors.
